Hi, I’m Juno!
I am currently based in Toronto, where I’m studying in the Masters of Science in Biomedical Communications (MScBMC) program at the University of Toronto. I earned my undergraduate degree with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Studio Arts with a concentration in painting at Rochester Institute of Technology.
By the end of my years in undergrad, I mainly worked with oil on wood panels, as I wanted to create glassy surfaces consisting of many thin layers of paint. These beautiful translucent layers of paint allowed me to ask my viewers to confront their idea of beauty and perfection, as I often juxtaposed the elegance of the paint with visceral, and often confrontational, imagery.
Now I aim to create clear and accurate scientific visualizations with the same amount of care that I put into my paintings. My interests include surgical illustrations, pathology, the natural sciences, and medical legal illustrations.
Like many others who are drawn to this profession, I’ve come to understand that the fields of science and art are not separate disciplines, but rather, they’re intertwined. Both attempt to explain and describe the world, through fostering creativity, problem solving, and encouraging communication.
